What is a funeral celebrant?

We take a good look into the ceremony performed after somebody has died, and how it's designed to celebrate and commemorate their life. We cover the ceremony of committal at the grave side or the cemetery chapel, and the separate 'celebrations of life' held either before or afterwards, at a different location. We go through the typical content of a ceremony, and what your responsibilities are as a funeral celebrant.

Become a funeral celebrant – Exploring the emotional side of celebrant life

Celebrancy is an emotional role, where you help people say what they need to say for closure, to begin a new chapter in their life, to say goodbye to someone they love, or hello to a new family member. We reveal the emotional side of a career in celebrancy, your priorities as a celebrant, and some of the challenges you might encounter, when you'll need to rein in your own emotions and deal with your own triggers.

It's actually a huge privilege to sit with a family, learn all about their loved one, and then carefully craft all that knowledge into a well written, expertly delivered funeral. We reveal how you will get to this amazing point with application, study, and practice.

Funeral training facts – How a funeral isn't always a sad occasion
